We encourage anyone who has accepted Christ and become a Christian to be baptized. The following are some frequently asked questions about baptism. Please feel free to contact Pastor Mark Winner in the church office if you’d like more information or have any questions.
WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
To follow the example set by Jesus.
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee andwas baptized by John in the Jordan. – Mark 1:9
Because Christ commands it.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. – Matthew 28:19-20
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BAPTISM?
It illustrates Christ’s burial and resurrection.
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. – Romans 6:4
It illustrates my new life as a Christian.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! – 2 Corinthians 5:17
WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
Every person who has believed in Christ.
Those who accepted his message were baptized,… – Acts 2:41
SHOULD CHILDREN BE BAPTIZED?
At Cornerstone, we wait until children are mature enough to make a decision for Christ on their own. If you would like your child to be baptized, please set up a time with Pastor Mark or Pastor Liz to discuss the child’s faith with them. Parents are encouraged to participate in this discussion.
